Custom vanity and bead board

It’s always nice to see a completed project. Especially when they look as good as this!

We built and installed this vanity and bead board a short while ago and my client sent me this picture showing how it turned out after the countertop and plumbing was done.

Doors and frames for a fireplace niche.

Often while installing a project for a client they will ask if I can help with another small project. This is one such example.

My client needed some doors and frames to conceal the recess either side of the fireplace.

The beadboard was made to match some existing beadboard on the other side of the room. I routed finger pulls into the doors so visible hardware would not be needed. My client will paint the doors and frames to match the trim.

Docking drawer

One of the features of the kitchen we recently built was a Docking Drawer. It is a hidden charging and power outlet located in a cabinet drawer. A hinged swing arm allows the drawer to operate normally.

It provides the ability to charge all the electronic devices that make up our lives today without taking up valuable counter space.

Window Bench

We installed the window bench this morning.   After installing the cabinets we templated for the top.   We will install that in a couple of days after building and spraying it.

Although the doors have no hardware they are fully functional so a lot of extra storage space is gained. The doors have a spring catch and open with a light push.

The cabinets were finished with water-based acrylic pigment lacquer. The color was matched to Benjamin Moore “Cloud White”.

The molding in the door panels and the scalloped baseboard tie this piece in nicely with the kitchen cabinets they are adjacent to.

Vanity cabinet and bead board

We installed this vanity and beadboard yesterday.

The vanity is a custom color to match a Sherwin Williams color sample. It will get a quartz top and raised vessel sink.

The beadboard was custom made. One of the many advantages of custom made beadboard over store bought is I can make it up to 8′ long, eliminating the need for unsightly joints. I also use 3/8″ material instead of 1/4″ so it will lie flat and not follow any curves in the wall. Lastly, I can make the bead spacing wider or narrow to suit my client’s wishes.

Everything in this small room just worked. From the floor tile to the beadboard to the color of the vanity. I can’t take any credit for any of those choices, I just built what my client requested.

I’m looking forward to seeing pictures of the completed room with countertop and raised vessel sink.

Bar Area

We installed this bar area yesterday. It is built from rustic alder. The area to the right of the tall wine cooler has a set of stemware moldings. There are dimmable LED lights above the hanging wine glasses. The light looks great shining through the wine glasses. The glass in the upper doors is seeded glass.

Still waiting on the hardware to arrive. It is being made by a metal worker in South Carolina.

Work in progress – Live edge table

One of the projects we are working on is a live edge table. The slab is Parota.

The images show the slab being surfaced on the CNC router. The next step will be to strengthen and accent the crack in the slab with butterfly inlays.

I’m excited to be working on this project!

Kitchen Cabinets

We recently installed a kitchen we’ve been working on. The perimeter cabinets are painted, the color is called “Featherdown”. The island cabinets are made from teak.

The kitchen also features a pair of floating shelves, along with undercabinet lighting. The bar area has seeded glass doors and glass shelves.

There is also a custom range hood and the island has a wine rack built into one of the cabinets.

And drawers. Lots and lots of drawers.

Very pleased with how this came together.

Work in progress – Wine rack cabinet

This is the wine rack cabinet that will be part of the kitchen island. Solid teak. It will house 28 bottles of wine.

There are many designs of wine racks, the advantage of this one is that when the bottles come to rest they are self-centering and will all line up vertically. Probably more important to some people than others, but I like that.

Work in progress – Floating Shelves

The short video and accompanying pictures show the floating shelf build for the kitchen we are working on. The shelves have a recess for LED lights and will be mounted to the wall using the hardware shown.

The shelves are built from plywood with teak veneer. They were cut on the CNC using a miter fold technique with a 91 degree v-groove bit.

Once finished and installed they will be a beautiful accent on an off-white diagonal tile wall.
