This custom living room built-in combines painted cabinetry, natural white oak, concealed lighting, and practical power access into a clean media wall tailored to the room.
The lower cabinetry is finished in Sherwin-Williams Night Out, paired with brass pulls that provide a warm contrast against the deep painted finish. A rift-sawn European white oak veneer countertop adds natural texture and visually connects the base cabinetry to the matching floating shelves above.
The television is mounted against a shiplap backdrop finished in Sherwin-Williams Pure White. Rift-sawn European white oak floating shelves frame the TV and incorporate concealed under-shelf LED lighting, adding both display space and soft ambient illumination. The wiring for the shelf lighting was hidden behind the shiplap so the finished installation remains clean and uncluttered, with a discreet on/off switch integrated into one of the lower cabinet stiles.
A recessed power module was also built into the countertop, providing convenient access to two 110-volt outlets and USB charging ports without disrupting the surface’s clean lines.
The result is a built-in that balances display, storage, lighting, and everyday functionality while fitting naturally into the living room’s architecture.
